Circular ring shaped ultra-wideband metamaterial absorber with polarization insensitivity for energy harvesting

<span>A circular ring-shaped metamaterial (CRM) absorber was designed to harvest radio frequency (RF) energy in the ultra-wideband (UWB) band applications. The proposed unit cell features a shaped structure, with rectangular strip lines connected form of cross leaving square slot at center. dimensions are 15×15×1.6 mm. etched on low cost FR4 substrate having dielectric constant 4.4. Ansys high structure simulator (HFSS) software used for simulation and analysis were carried out cell, 2×2, 3×3, 4×4 array structures. parameters plotted absorption characteristics reflection characteristics. Also, (μeff) (εeff) also retrieved from analyzed. From analysis, values found be negative, refractive index negative (n&lt;0), which proved property. CRM showed good more than 80% property entire UWB (4-13 GHz). Hence proves candidate powering power sensors/microcontrollers internet things (IoT) applications.</span>
